Change the paper colour of messages You are already able to change the foreground and background colour of any message when your view it in your inbox but now you are also able to change the paper (background) colour of that message when it is opened. So instead of the message appearing on the default white background you can colour it to relay information to your users. You may want to display and message containing a .zip attachment with a red background to show caution or mail from whitelisted senders with a green background to differentiate those from unknown senders. Any no.Spam.domino rule can set the paper colour to any notes colour value giving you lots of options. See the 'Additional Actions' section of your mail rule for this option. Share your Spam with us To help us help you we are now offering our replication customers the option to share their Spam with us via a replicated notes database. This will help us to identify way to block more of the type of messages you do not want. This service is free and available to you if you already have a replication connection to us. If you'd like to take part, please just mail us and we'll help you to set it up. Blocking by 'exceptions' Spammers are crafty and adapt quickly to new Spam fighting techniques. We monitor a large amount of Spam for new trends and have identified several new ways to block the latest efforts. One new way spammers are trying to get mail through to you is to send it from a randomly named mail client. We already check for known BAD mailer clients but now we also check to see if the message was sent from one of the top 50 or so most common mailer clients. These random clients will never be part of this list so this quite a good way to counter this new threat. We've implemented the new rule as a 'canned mail rule' called "MAILER_COMMON_CHECK". You'll find that in your master database in the 'Rules/Canned Rules' view. See the manual for instructions on using this rule. Agent updates and performance boosters We've enhanced some of the agents the no.Spam.domino uses to make them more stable on heavily used systems and to enhance performance. If you're using the Bayesian or Blok service you'll also see improvements. We recommend you update your databases to take advantage of the improvements. If your 'Process Spam Controls' agent doesn't show version 1.0.78.6 or higher please update. Exact matching in dynamic rules If you have particularly large lists of users (>400) that you want to whitelist or blacklist you may need to consider using the new 'exact match' option on rules that lookup e-mail addresses (blacklists and whitelists). This option will make the mail rule use much less server overhead and may prevent server instability in cases where you have a heavily used server with large lists. Generally it's better to find a way of blocking or allowing mail that does not require large lists, there are usually other indicators that will help find such messages but if you really need to, this new option will allow you to do it with less chance of your server getting bogged down looking up usernames. To take advantage of these new options just replicate your master database with DRCC and then refresh the design of your no.Spam.domino working copy. Remember to re-sign and re-schedule your agents but note that this update should make that requirement a thing of the past. Future updates will not require this step. Your agents will stay enabled.
